M.F.A. Hartt School of Music, University of Hartford

Concetta Berardozzi was born in Abruzzo, Italy and moved to the United States with her family at age eight, and the long Midwestern winters of her new home helped foster her love for the piano. She earned her B.F.A. in Piano Performance from the University of South Dakota, while also pursuing her study of the visual arts. While working toward her degree she became a competitive pianist, taking several top honors including first place in the M.T.N.A. Collegiate State Competition as well as performing in numerous ensembles and recitals throughout the community.

Concetta relocated to St. Paul, Minnesota in order to study with concert artist Dr. Joseph Zinns, who helped her refine her technique and incorporate her love of painting, drawing and photography in her musical style. It was in St. Paul that she discovered her love for teaching and decided to pursue a career in piano pedagogy. This eventually brought Concetta to the Harrt School of Music, where she completed her Masters of Music in Piano, and was praised for her color production and her interpretations of Debussy.

Concetta has been teaching professionally for over 20 years. She has guided students from their first piano lesson all the way through the college level. Her students have won numerous scholarships and awards. Concetta always carries the Suzuki philosophy with her in her instruction, and holds a holistic approach to her teaching, introducing students to all musical elements, from the technical to the artistic, right from the start. Concetta lives in Kensington, Connecticut with her husband and son.
