A favorite of families throughout the region – the Children’s Pillow Concert Series is part of the Suzuki Schools’ Community Outreach Program. Co-Sponsored by WSHU Radio, an NPR station, the 5 concert series is completely free to the community and features both national and regional artists, performing serious music in an informal setting designed for all the family. Children of all ages bring a pillow and get up close with the performers allowing families a chance to introduce their children to top quality performances. With up to 150 people attending this is a true celebration of community arts.
The 2020-2021 featured award winning artists – Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center’s Rami Vamos, award winning cellist Matt Haimowitz, inspiring Jazz pianist Sumi Tanooka, the renowned classical pianist Amy Yang, and the exciting talent of flutist Zara Lawler. In 2021 our pillow concerts will feature a tribute to legendary harpsichordist Kenneth Cooper by former students and collaborators.
