Christopher Bedoya began his cello studies at the age of 9 through the Greenwich Suzuki Academy, where he was first introduced to the Suzuki method. In 2012, he attended Baylor University, graduating with a Bachelor’s in Cello Performance under Dr. Gary Hardie in 2016. He joined the faculty of the Central Texas String Academy in 2012 under Suzuki teacher trainer and violist Dr. Julia Hardie and became the director of CTSA’s cello department in 2016. While in Texas, he also joined the faculty of the Academie Musique of Temple. Christopher later moved back to the Northeast, where he studied with Julia Lichten and Tommy Mesa to earn a Master’s degree from SUNY Purchase College, graduating in 2022. From 2019-2021, he also received further teacher training from Pam Devenport at New York’s premier Suzuki program, The School for Strings. Chris is also currently on faculty at the Greenwich Suzuki Academy and involved with summer Suzuki institutes. A lifelong grappler and brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Chris is also the lead kids instructor at the Greenwich Jiu-Jitsu Academy. Chris LOVES seeing how each discipline strengthens and impacts the other; something he tries to highlight for his students involved in both.
