Early Childhod Classes lie at the very heart of the Suzuki School. They are a fun and creative way to introduce your child to music. If your child is younger than five years old, we recommend you enroll in a general music class for at least a year before taking private instrumental lessons and at least a semester in a course run at the Suzuki Music Schools. Our sequence of Early Childhood Classes are organized by age and designed to help the transition into private instrumental lessons in the Suzuki curriculum.
Please read our terms of service for this class before enrolling

“If children hear fine music from the day of their birth and learn to play it, they develop sensitivity, discipline and endurance. They get a beautiful heart" ~Dr. Shinichi Suzuki
Designed specifically for lap babies and crawlers, and their parents, our Early Start class uses music to nurture and strengthen the baby/parent bond. Musical, social, cognitive, physical and emotional development is supported through lullabies, rhymes, intentional touch, action songs, and multi-sensory play. The learning, connection and communication continues at home with multiple styles of music for listening as well as educator-shared resources and suggestion in our private Early Start online group, open only to members of the class. 40 minutes; Ongoing classes throughout the year.

This parent-child class is ideal as an introduction to any Suzuki instrumental lessons, as well as an excellent opportunity to help determine which instrument your child would like to pursue; also to get professional advice as to which instrument your child may be best suited. Using the Suzuki repertoire, the children will learn and continue to review basic musical concepts such as steady beat and pitch, as well as be introduced to the actual Suzuki rhythms, shared by all the instruments. Over the course of a semester, each instrument offered here at SMSW will be presented for a live, hands-on demonstration. 40 minutes; 17-week semester offered fall and spring.
