SCHOOL YEAR CLASSES

Jump Start: Suzuki Early Childhood Education (birth-4 years, year round)

Foundational parent-child Suzuki class building early musical habits through repetition and guided technique. Offered year-round. Join anytime.

In Class
  • Children participate in consistent musical routines that build familiarity, confidence, and memory through repetition
  • Guided movement and social musical activities develop coordination, listening, timing, and responsive interaction
  • Hands-on instrument experiences support early technical development through teacher-guided posture, hand position, and controlled movement
  • Children learn within a social musical environment that encourages observation, imitation, and group participation
  • Parents actively participate throughout class and are coached to recognize subtle but meaningful signs of their child’s musical development in real time
Core Learning Process

Jump Start builds foundational musical learning through structured, cyclical repetition of sensory-based experiences and hands-on guided participation. Through consistent exposure and physical support, musical responses develop from conscious effort into increasingly automatic, embodied patterns of learning.

Important to Understand

Together, children and parents build the foundational habits of listening, coordination, and musical engagement that support all future instrumental study.

Ready Start (4 – 6 years, one semester, fall or spring)

A structured Suzuki Early Childhood class for children who are ready for more focused, cumulative musical learning and increasing independence. One semester, offered fall & spring.

In Class
  • Respond to teacher-led musical direction with increasing independence, using both movement and vocal/instrumental responses
  • Hear, recognize, and respond to foundational musical terminology such as tempo, dynamics, pitch, and articulation, and demonstrate musical contrasts (e.g., fast/slow, loud/soft, high/low, legato/staccato) through structured activities
  • Strengthen self-regulation and focus by following multi-step musical directions within a group setting
  • Participate in musical games and activities that require listening, recognition, and intentional musical response
  • Experience guided introduction to the core instruments offered at Suzuki Music Schools, supporting future decisions about instrument study
Core Learning Process

Ready Start moves children from sensory musical experiences into more intentional, structured musical understanding, where familiar concepts are expanded through cumulative learning and applied in increasingly independent group settings.

Important to Understand

Ready Start is a structured Suzuki Early Childhood class designed for children who are ready for more focused group learning and increasing independence.

Parents remain actively involved, providing loving, hands-on support during activities and building toward their role as Practice Partner in future instrumental study.

SUMMER CLASSES & CAMPS

Jump Start: Suzuki Early Childhood Educations (birth through 4 years, weekly)

Offered year round. 👉 See description above ↑

Meet the Instruments (4-6 years, weekly)

A weekly summer class where children explore the orchestra by gradually “building” one together over the course of the program. Inspired by How to Build an Orchestra, children listen to select London Symphony Orchestra recordings and discover how each instrument and family contributes to the whole ensemble.

How it Works
  • Each class begins with our opening song, “Let’s All Build an Orchestra,” that introduces the theme and instrumental family for the day
  • Children learn about orchestral families and the instruments within each family through listening, movement, guided activities and hands-on instrumental exploration
  • As the weeks progress, we revisit and layer previously learned instruments to “build” the full orchestra together, culminating in an interactive interpretation of Benjamin Britten’s Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra.
  • Musical ideas are reinforced through repetition, storytelling, and active participation
Good to know

This exploratory, storytelling-based approach is intentionally different from our structured Ready Start program and helps children experience the orchestra as a whole before beginning formal instrumental study.

This class is exploratory and does not replace Ready Start or private instrumental instruction.

Little Musicians Camp (Ages 3–6, daily)
Why Little Musicians?

A summer camp designed to help children discover the joy of making music while exploring the instruments of Suzuki Music Schools.

  • Each day focuses on a different instrument through demonstrations, mini lessons, and hands-on musical experiences
  • Learn basic playing techniques and instrument care
  • Enjoy singing, movement, games, and musical activities
  • Create instrument-themed crafts and projects
  • Discover which instruments spark curiosity and interest
Why it matters

Designed for children who are curious about learning an instrument, Little Musicians Camp provides guided experiences with Suzuki faculty, meaningful exposure to a variety of instruments, and valuable insight into future musical study.

Family Music Camp (Ages 1-4, daily)

A themed summer music camp designed for families with young children to experience music, movement, and creative activities together in a relaxed, joyful setting.

In Camp
  • Participate in music and movement activities as a family
  • Sing, move, and engage in themed musical experiences designed for young children
  • Explore simple musical concepts through play, rhythm, and storytelling
  • Create music-inspired crafts and participate in hands-on activities
  • Enjoy a relaxed summer format focused on shared experience rather than skill progression
Good to know

Family Music Camp is especially enjoyable for current Jump Start families and new families alike, offering a relaxed summer opportunity to make music together outside the weekly class setting.

Why it matters
